Acupuncture began in ancient China and has now developed into a modern technique for pain relief.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very fine sterile needles through the soft tissue targeting specific acupuncture points. The treatment causes minimal to no discomfort.
Acupuncture works by stimulating the release of the body’s natural pain killers– Endorphins. Endorphins will reduce pain and promote relaxation, circulation and healing.
Before an acupuncture session you should refrain from alcohol or sedatives 4 hours previous to treatment. Have a small meal within a couple hours of your treatment. Avoid unusually large meals prior to treatment. Medications can be taken as prescribed.
After an acupuncture session you want to avoid strenuous activity for a couple days. Relax if possible. Avoid alcohol, caffeine or sedatives 2 hours after treatment. Medications can be taken as prescribed.
Results vary amongst the population. Often you will see results in the first to fourth session.
